How much should a private event planner charge per hour?

Ethereal asked:

I am in the process of starting my own private event planning company in colorado and I am not sure how much I should charge for my services. In the past I have done corporate work with pro teams and I have also worked as a private wedding planner in Southern California. I am planning on working private holiday parties, club openings, birthday parties and so on, but due to the diversity on my services I think I should charge by the hour opposed to offering packages. What is a good hourly rate for a private event planner with experience?

Well try a research your market, check prices that other event charge even the prices of those you have worked with. Also research what companies and individuals are willing to pay for these kinda of services. Then u work out your stuff from there. Check out equipments prices, if u have to employ any one, rent stuff from other companies etc.

    I hope this helps.
