I’ve worked in event planning, and more important than what college/degree you choose is NETWORKING. Seek out experienced event planners and ask for internships or part-time work. They can almost always use someone who is willing to do the “grunt work” for them, and there’s no better way to learn. In the event planning world, you really need to know someone to get started.
I would go to any college with a good Public Relations major or maybe communications, either way you will learn how to promote alot of things with events. I know club promoters that have great PR backgrounds, and they are now the best in their field.
I know of two schools in MA/RI for that….There’s Johnson and Wales in Providence, but then there’s I think Bay State in Boston, MA. Both are Bachelor’s degree programs. However, it is who you know to succeed. Start making a lot of contacts now so you will be able to call people and be able to be successful at what you are doing.
